Harvesting Tea from my Flower Garden

Basic Echinacea RecipeIngredients:
  • 1 tablespoon dried echinacea (or 2 tablespoons of fresh echinacea)
  • 10 ounces of water
  • Sweetener (OPTIONAL)
Instructions:1. Bring water to a boil using a stove-top pan or a tea kettle.
2. Once boiling, turn the heat down to medium and add in the echinacea.
3. Place a lid on the pot and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. If using a tea kettle, simply pour the boiling water into a teacup and add the echinacea to a tea ball or tea infuser. Steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
4. Strain the loose flowers, roots, or leaves from the pot and pour into a teacup. It using a tea ball, simply remove and discard the echinacea.
5. Add flavorings or sweeteners such as honey and lemon if desired. Enjoy!

Going Down Your Own Rabbit Hole

In the spirit of intention and listening  . . . I spent my 2019 Spring Break blowing my own mind!  It was a fun journey into my unconscious and mystery and magic of a good story to transport and transcend.  I was just enjoying the wonder of research and then I stumbled upon the audio version of Alice in Wonderland!  I had never read it nor did I really know the entire story . . . some how that escaped my curiousness in childhood. 

I enjoyed finding the text version on a site that also had a through analysis of the story.  I was so inspired and lite up that I even wrote notes about the epiphanies I was having during this time.  I am inspired to draw and paint some aspects of the story that were most profound to me.

Shoshin is a word from Zen Buddhism meaning "beginner's mind." It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner would. Enjoy!

I went to our local Sahara Mart here in Bloomington and I was not sure what I was looking for and then I saw on the clearance rack tinctures . . .  ok now I can see what is speaking to me here.  I have a dream of a Tincture Alchemy Healing Bar where you can dial up a potion just for you.  I was drawn to the Red Clover and Ginger.

Clarity can come from a clean and neat living space.  Take the time to craft your space solutions that work for who YOU are!  It is actually kind of fun.  I recently when through a tremendous amount of change in my physical and social emotional environments.  It was fun to take my positive changes and accentuate the power of the liberation by creating my sleeping space to be a sacred chamber free from electronics and welcoming to provide positive lift off to other realms in the sleepscape.  

I moved my bed around in the room and positioned a nice white booming flower to be the first thing I see when I awake in the morning.  The vibe has definitely changed and that can be seen in the way the kitties grace the space, they love to be intentional too!  I hope this has inspired you to create a special space for you to rejuvenate and rest.

Clear your counter tops and organize your items for your adornment while also allowing space for an alter and intention to your space. I have shells and acorns in my alter because that fills my soul with joy to remember my adventures at the sea shore and hikes in the woods.  You alter needs to feed your soul make it as unique as you are and have fun!

Steps to success are make it attainable, start small with one space or counter top area. Clear all items from the area, clean it and then make the space intentional and give it purpose choose the items that work for your intention.  Keep your box of goodies handy for your next rework and intentional space making.  Recently, I created some collages and it was fun to add them to my bathroom space where I can have time to intentionally manifest the magic of creating healing collages.

The VEGAN Inner Hiker . . .

We sponsored a showing of Cowspiracy with the local Green Party of Bloomington and Direct Action Coalition, last week.  Once I watched the film and learned the reality of even cage free eggs and our fishing industry inefficiency and auxiliary kill and waste, I became VEGAN.  I will be Vegan until we have the need to run our food down and hunt like a man who is feeding his or her tribe.  There is fear in the factory food system that we currently participate in through our purchase at restaurants, supermarkets and the like. 

I look at it as KARMA . . . do no harm . . .  well . . . NO COW, CHICKEN, FISH or ANIMAL WANTS to willingly participate in our FOOD PRISON SYSTEM and DEATH CAMPS, known as the food industry.

I can not eat an animal who died in fear and prison.  Milk is for a baby calf to drink but instead  . . .  the calf is taken away from it's lactating mother and put in a pen to restrict movement so when it is cut up, the meat will be tender, how barbaric!  Then the mother who has had her calf taken away after birth is left in a pen with machines hooked up to her breasts!  Imagine if that were the case for human women and their children!  Sick, sick, sick, I will not contribute to that type of energy on the planet. 

I am so much happier and I am enjoying eating in a way I have never known, I think I always could feel the negative energy in food prepared from the pain of another and not given the honor and care our food needs to have to be of the highest nutritional and energetic value.

Staying motivated during the winter months can be though . . . Be gentle with yourself.  ENJOY the hibernation of it all, rest up, Spring is on it's way and more opportunity to MOVE present themselves.  Enjoy practicing yoga using the Sunrise Morning Glory Flow as a gentle guide and motivation.

During this time of gathering in and reflecting, take time to journal, read poetry, ruminate and move your body with slow stretches and meditative flow.  Even though the storms rage around you  . . .  seek the still small voice within.

The Way

This poem is the inspiration for and validation of the Inner Hiking Project.  I wrote is in January of 2014 and when working on this project it appeared to me as a reminder that I had planted these seeds. 

"I am an artist . . . I see differently, I feel, hear and smell aspects of the sublime.  We are all artists and will always be. 
To deny the soul and it's creativity, is to lock your spirit bird in a cage.  Enlightenment cannot live in the dark.  We must strive to unearth and bring light to that which lies deep within, that true seed of self, buried by time, transgressions and trauma.

Only you have the key to your souls journey.  I implore you to look in the mirror and fall in love with your beautiful self then and only then will your blossom of life open to the world in a magnificently fragrant and delightfully wondrous way."
